Dendaran's Trail

Allen was spending another Saturday on his laptop, working meticulously on another sprite sheet for his DeviantArt account. Glancing at his phone, Allen's thoughts began to wonder.
Okay, Wade hasn't called me yet today to hang out, and Kellie is away for the week…I haven't got a single thing to do.
While he was contemplating these thoughts, a knock on the door broke him out of his daze. Remembering that his mom and dad wouldn't be back until later, and his little brother was also gone for a while, Allen wondered who could be at the door. His dog, Peanutbutterhead, was standing at the closed door, barking up a storm.
"You'd think that after I've come here so often she wouldn't bark at me as much." Allen heard a familiar voice on the other side of the door.
"Quite Peanut," Allen said as he opened the door to greet his friend Wade, "Yo dude, why didn't you call me and tell me you were coming over? For all you knew, I could have been at my grandma's."
"Yeah, but I knew you weren't, so why waste the energy calling?"
"True, so where's your stuff?" Usually, Wade never came over to Allen's without at least his Wii.
"I didn't need any of it, because we're going somewhere." Wade has a weird grin on his face, weirder than usual, thought Allen.
Allen turned his house's security system on and made sure Peanut had plenty of food and water before he shut and locked the door. He turned and faced Wade who was standing in the backyard, staring up at the sky. Allen strolled over to his friend to see what the older of the two of them was looking at. Glancing up at the sky, a sharp pain hit Allen in his mind, and he felt himself go numb and lost consciousness.
"So, this is your friend, is it Wade?" An elderly voice was heard.
"Yep, this is him." Wade's voice was clearly discernable.
Allen raised himself on to his hands and knees, rubbing his head with one hand. He gazed up and saw an elderly gentle man standing beside his best friend. The room they were in was one that looked like a living room, complete with a couch, side tables, and an old rocking chair.
"Please, have a seat Allen." The old man made a motion to the couch as he himself sat in the wooded rocker. Wade planted himself onto the right end of the couch, leaving the seat directly in front of the man open for Allen.
"Alright, what's going on!? What'd you to do to me Wade!? Where am I?!" Allen got to his feet and pointed an accusing finger at Wade.
"Well, in order: You're at a job interview, I didn't do anything, and you are somewhere along the back roads near my house at an all year Haunted Trail." Wade was always answering his questions in such a manner.
"Wait, job interview? Is that what you said?"
"See Dendaran, I told you he was a good listener." Wade said in a joking way.
"Indeed my young lycan." Dendaran looked over at Allen. "So are you going to sit or stand? Personally, I prefer to sit, much easier on my back."
Allen took a seat on the open left side of the couch. He was directly in front of Dendaran, even if the old man's chair was slightly tilted towards the window and not directly at the couch.
"So, do you already have a job that you do now?" Dendaran began asking questions to Allen.
"Um, not really. I watch my brother some days, but I don't work for any businesses or anything." Allen was confused as to why Wade had brought him here.
"Excellent. Now for my second question; are you thirsty?"
"A little, I guess."
"What would you like to drink Allen? You too Wade, any drink preference?"
"I'll take a cup of Coke please." Wade replied to his apparent boss.
"I believe I fancy myself a cup of hot tea." As soon as the words left the bald man's mouth, a cup of tea, saucer and all, appeared in his hands he took a sip as Wade drank from a cup that appeared in his own hands.
Allen looked back and forth between the two. "What just happened? Where did those drinks come from?"
"From the cupboard of course. Although, it's so rude to walk up and away in the middle of an interview for a new possible employee that I decided to make the drinks come to us." Dendaran took another sip of his hot drink. "You still haven't answered my question, what would you like to drink?"
Allen was really starting to ponder the possibilities of what was going on. "I'll take a cup of Coke too, I guess." The cup appeared in front of Allen, floating in the air.  It was filled up perfectly with the bubbly fluid. "Okay, how'd you do that?!"
"You think people could recognize magic when they see it; especially you, Allen." Wade said as he finished another gulp of Coke.
"Magic?" Allen looked at Dendaran. "Is that true? Are you a magician?"
"Technically, I'd be classified as a wizard. But in basic terms, yes, I'm a magician." Dendaran set his tea cup down and resumed his gaze on Allen. "For my third question, would you like a job here?"
"A job as what?" Allen wondered what job a wizard could have him do.
"Being a leech. Just like I'm a lycan, you'd be a leech." Wade looked at his friend with a smile. It was an ongoing thing for the older of the two to call vampires 'leeches' since he preferred werewolves.
"You're a puppy?" Allen joked back at his friend. "That's a little, um, not sure what the word would be. But I know you've been slightly obsessed with them dude, but to say you are one? That's a little…."
As Allen started to finish that sentence, Wade's body began to shudder. His build became less pudgy, and more muscular as fur covered his body. His clothes seem to tear and a muzzle pushed forth from his face. Where once Allen's friend was, a full werewolf now sat, drinking Coke from the cup in its front paw.
"Believe me now?" The lycanthrope said in a deeper and gruffer version of Wade's voice.
Allen stared wide-eyed at his friend. He nodded weakly. "Is that really you Wade and I'm not just hallucinating?" I both hope I am, and I hope that I'm not. Allen thought as he waited for the reply.
"No, it's Frida Suarez. Of course it's me, dude. You saw me change didn't you?" The werewolf put down the cup on the coffee table. He stood up and walked towards the hall. "I can go ahead and tell you, he's going to take the job once he sees the back room."
"Agreed. Allen, come this way please." Dendaran stood up and took the lead down the hall. Wade motioned for Allen to follow him and the wizard.
Allen slowly stood up, still in slight shock of what he just saw. He quickly shook it off once a thought came to his mind. If Wade's a werewolf, then that means I can be a…oh sweet! He followed them down the hall and stopped as he saw Wade entering one of the doors. Allen followed him inside and stopped short in his tracks.
Inside was a room that resembled a large warehouse with shelves reaching up to the ceiling. Row after row of boxes that were just slightly bigger than a shoe box filled each of these shelves. The rows seemed to go on forever into oblivion. Each box had a different thing written on it. Allen moved closer to see what they were.
"Each box contains a different costume. Once you put that costume on, you will become that creature. Chose wisely though young one. Once you pick and wear one, it becomes the one that you shall be bonded with."
"Yeah, think of it as a major 'no return policy." Wade said as he leaned against one of the shelves.
"Thank you for that commentary, puppy." Allen teased his friend. "I kinda got that when Dendaran said I would be bonded with it."
"I wouldn't tease someone that could rip you to ribbons before you have your own costume dude." Wade said back to Allen's comment. He bared his teeth and snapped his jaws as he said that.
"Wade, enough. Let your friend select his costume so we may get on with business." Dendaran declared at a surprisingly high volume for a man his apparent age.
Allen watched as Wade's ears drooped from being yelled at, and then stared with amazement as his friend's form returned to normal. Even his clothes returned to their un-shredded form.
Once his friend was back in human form, Allen returned his attention to the costume boxes. He knew which one he wanted without a doubt, but he continued to browse, just to see the selection.
The boxes had multitudes of names upon them. There was 'werewolf,' 'half-dragon,' 'chimera,' 'gremlin,' 'fish-man,' and many more. Finally Allen's eyes rested on the box he was looking for.
"See, told you he would go for the vampire." Wade said as Allen removed the box from the eye-level shelf it rested on.
"What did I tell you about taking an attitude of little respect for me, Wade?" Dendaran glared over at his first employee. He took a deep breath then returned his attention to his new prospect. "Is your final choice the vampire, Allen? Make sure that you will be okay with being in that creature's form."
"Oh yeah, I'm sure." Allen said as he looked at the red letters on the brown box that read 'Vampire.'
"Very well." Dendaran waved his hand at one of the shelves and it seemed to be pushed back. From the air itself, a set of changing rooms like at a department store materialized. "Simply step inside and put on the costume. Wade and I will be waiting for you when you finish. I will tell you that you should remove all clothing and foot wear except for your shorts, it will make putting the costume on much easier." Dendaran stepped out of the room. Wade started to follow him, but stopped and turned to his buddy.
"Be sure to stay calm. That zipper can be a bit of a doosey." Wade laughed as he left the room and shut the door.
Wonder what he means by that. Maybe the zipper is just hard to zip.  Allen thought as he stepped into the one of the changing rooms. The small room was about a four-by-four closet with a mirror on the opposite wall of the door. Allen set the box on the small bench that jutted out from one of the walls and sat down himself and removed his shoes. Once his footwear was off, Allen lifted the lid to the box to see what his appearance would be once the costume was on.
This is the second chapter in Dendaran's Trail. This time, we have the first chapter's 'hero' Wade's best friend being added to the mix. You should remember him from the first one.

Wade, Dendaran, Allen, and pretty much this whole story belong to me.....no stealing without credit please.
